German shepherd saves little girl from rattlesnake bite

Haus is a beautiful German Shepherd that is only two. He was adopted by the DeLuca family of Tampa, Florida a few months back, and his life has changed forever. The family recently lost their own German Shepherd pup and they knew that they wanted another one to join them and their small kids and their other dog. When they brought Haus home, he fit right in. He was immediately protective and loving of the kids, and very gentle all the way around. Recently, when the dog was playing in the family&rsquo-s back yard with the kids while Grandma was watching them, she saw that the dog jumped in front of the family&rsquo-s seven-year-old daughter and snap several times. Unsure what was going on until the dog finally turned around, it was then they realize he&rsquo-d been bitten by a snake three times.

It turns out that as they rushed him to the vet, the snake was not a good one. It was an Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake- the most poisonous in North America. Filled with venom, the dog&rsquo-s kidneys were damaged and he was in the ICU for almost a week. The family&rsquo-s friends began raising money for the dog to offset the cost of his thousands and thousands of dollars in medical bills, and they&rsquo-ve exceeded their goals and have donated the remaining thousands to the animal shelter where they were able to adopt the dog that saved their little girl&rsquo-s life. What an amazing dog and an even more amazing story of survival.
