Rescue dogs get new and odd rescue sibling: a raccoon

Pumpkin, Toffee and Oreo live with their adopted mother in Nassau, Bahamas. Their life there is pretty good. The three are the best of friends. They get along splendidly, have fun together and respect one another&rsquo-s boundaries when it comes to playtime and fun- and they always get along well. These three are the best of friends and they are just like any other rescue dogs that have been saved and given a new chance at living a wonderful life. Except one of these dogs is not like the other. In fact, one of these dogs is not actually even a dog.

Pumpkin is a raccoon. When she was a baby, she fell out of a tree in which she lived with her mother, broke a leg and her mother abandoned her. That&rsquo-s when her adoptive mother found her, healed her and cared for her. Unable to find her real mother, the Bahamas resident decided to take it upon herself to keep this raccoon at home, give her a name and let her learn to live with her dogs. Now she does, and she&rsquo-s grown up with them.

Pumpkin thinks that she is a dog. She has no idea she&rsquo-s a raccoon or that she is not a dog. She plays with the other dogs, she acts like the other dogs and she gets along with them just as if she is one of them. The best part about this relationship is that Toffee and Oreo aren&rsquo-t even aware – or they just don&rsquo-t care – that Pumpkin isn&rsquo-t a dog. Their relationship is one that is unique, certainly, but it also goes to show that any animal has the ability to get along with any other animal if they are only given a chance at life and love. These animals certainly have that.
