Time lapse of a rescued puppy growing up on a treadmill
Pegasus is the name of a cute pup who is a double-merle- meaning she has double copies of his merle genes. His pet parent Dave Meinert shared their story on boredpanda.com. According to Dave, he rescued Pegasus from backyard breeders when she was just a four-week-old puppy. Her siblings were deformed and died at birth due to health complications that are caused by irresponsible breeding. Since the pup is double-merle, she has the tendency to have hearing and vision problems. She is also expected to die young. But that didn&rsquo-t stop Dave from taking the lovely white pup home with him.
&ldquo-For me, she had already been born. Nothing was going to change that. By rescuing her, at least I could be certain she&rsquo-d be looked after and not discarded or left to die like many of these dogs when the problems start,&rdquo- Dave Meinert told The Dodo.
Dave stayed positive amidst the negative things that Pegasus could possibly face in the near future. He wanted the pup to have a good and happy life. So every good day that Pegasus has he celebrated it with her. As a way of celebrating his pup&rsquo-s life, Dave decided to document Pegasus&rsquo-s growth, achievements and activities. He started taking pictures of the pooch daily. Then he moved on to filming Pegasus on a treadmill with the help of an animal therapist. The film is titled &ldquo-The Pegasus Project&rdquo- which is now available for viewing on Youtube. The film will show us the amazing transformation of the dog. Somehow the treadmill helps her conquer her weakness.
It&rsquo-s really wonderful to see her transformed from being a month-old puppy to a 7 month-old teenage pup. Although Pegasus&rsquo-s health is far from being perfect right now, she is happy and thriving which is most important. So far so good and she seems to be handling things quite well with Dave&rsquo-s help. We are sure that if any issue health issues arise, she is not going to face it alone. We applaud Dave Meiner for giving Pegasus the chance to live a happy life and for taking good care of her. We wish both of them more years of fun and happiness together.
