These dogs have a unique look that sets them apart from the rest of the dogs in the breed. The Applehead Chihuahua got its name from the shape of its head which many people says it resembles a large ripe apple. These pint sized dogs have a large and prominent head with a short muzzle giving them a unique look. Coat length can vary in these animals and many dogs will have either a long or short coat but some will have wavy fur. Color coat is also a wide ranging variable and will depend on the parent animals. In general, these animals will reach a height of only 9 inches when fully grown and weigh no more than 6 pounds. This makes these feisty pooches the smallest dogs in the world.

Are There Any Health Issues?

When it comes to purebred dogs you are going to have some health issues that you might need to be concerned about. While these dogs are very healthy breed and often live more than 15 years, you should learn about what might affect them. Heart murmurs are a common ailment that affects these dogs which may affect your pet&rsquo-s stamina. But with a proper diet and medication your dog can lead a long and healthy life. Another common issue is shivering and occurs in many dogs. It is not known what causes this condition and normally it&rsquo-s nothing to worry about. But keep an eye on your dog and take them to the vet if the shaking doesn&rsquo-t stop.

Are All of These Dogs Feisty?

While many of these dogs are feisty some are actually very calm. Even though these dogs are very tiny they are very bold and won&rsquo-t back down. This is why you should always keep an eye on your pet when they are around other dogs. Many people with families own these animals and they are often bonded to only one person. So if you have small children, don&rsquo-t allow them to be alone with the dog until you know how they are going to react to one another. But a well socialized dog will have fewer problems with biting issues.
