A dog gives birth to 18 puppies shocking her owners

When dogs get pregnant and have babies, they tend to give birth to a sizable litter. But nothing could have prepared one family for the numerous happy little surprises their dog was going to give them. A Holly Springs, Mississippi family received a shocking surprise when they see their three-year-old dog gives birth to not just one or two or even a dozen dogs – it popped out a whopping 18 babies!

It all started when a vet told Amy Suggs and her family that their dog Kimber couldn&rsquo-t have any babies – and the English Mastiff dog proved that vet very wrong. When they first got her, the 150-pound Kimber was the perfect family dog for Amy and husband Richard. For a while, the Suggs wanted to breed their dog and have a litter of puppies to love, but the vet had shot their dreams down with their words.

&ldquo-She wasn&rsquo-t going to have any puppies,&rdquo- Suggs said. &ldquo-We weren&rsquo-t concerned with separating her from our male.”

Apparently the vet was wrong, and Kimber and the Suggs&rsquo- other Mastiff named Magnum ended up connecting their love. While the vet said the female dog was infertile, the dog was miraculously pregnant and that&rsquo-s when all the surprises came rushing. The vet informed them that they were going to have 10 puppies in Kimber&rsquo-s litter. The family was excited over the prospect of having a litter.

When the time came, the dog needed an emergency c-section to save Kimber and the puppies. The vet informed the family that they may not make it, but luckily that was false. The truth was, all of the dogs were perfectly fine and healthy – and the 10 actually became 18 puppies! Currently, Kimber is resting up since her c-section and the Suggs family is bottle feeding the pups at the moment.

&ldquo-The first thing I do every morning is get up and walk in and make sure they&rsquo-re still alive,&rdquo- Suggs said. &ldquo-It&rsquo-s just gratifying to know that you&rsquo-re taking care of them, giving them what they need and that they&rsquo-re surviving and making it to another day- very gratifying.”
