How to make simple, organic, quick home made dog treats
Now a days, people seem really set on giving their dogs the healthiest and most organic treats they can. Gone are the days of fake bacon and table scraps, replaced by healthy treats for the dogs. But, people have also noted those healthy treats tend to take a rather sizable bite out of their wallets. Well, we decided to help you guys out and tell you our super-simple recipe for the best homemade dog treats a dog can have. On top of that, it is cheap to make and healthier than any store bought snack. The best part is, you probably already have the ingredients at home right now!
All you need is two cups of whole wheat flower. One cup of rolled oats. 1/3 cup of smooth, organic peanut butter. 1 and a quarter cups of hot water, and some extra flour for rolling. Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. If the dough feels too sticky, add more flour. Knead dough well and make into round shape that you will cover and let sit for fifteen minutes. Heat oven to 350 and make the treats whatever size and shape you like (that will be within reason for size of dog). We prefer dog bone shaped, but we are kind of old school like that.
Bake for forty minutes and then you let them sit overnight. The longer they sit, the harder they get. The harder they get, the longer they will stay fresh (and will also work on your dog&rsquo-s teeth and chewing, which they love. The next day, box or bag them up, and you now have an amazing, organic, healthy snack for your dog that you can make yourself with very little effort, and that your dog will love.
The best part is when the dog learns the smell and realizes it is his or her treats in the oven. That gets an adorable reaction the likes of which most dog lovers have not been lucky enough to see. Bake these treats a few times for Fido or Spot, and see how right we are.
