The feral cat mr no ears is the “lion king” of albufeira, portugal
If you ever go to Albufeira, Portugal, and stay at the Rocamar Hotel, you might meet a colony of feral cats. Among that colony, you might notice that one of the cats — a white one — has no ears and one eye. He is the one known as Mr No Ears.
However, even though Mr No Ears is a feral cat, he didn’t lose his ears and eye to neglect. In fact, the colony is lovingly looked after by Amigos dos Gatos do Algarve, a small charity set up to help cover the costs of caring for the cats. The charity and colony’s human caretaker — a woman named Lyn — has worked hard to make sure that all the cats in the colony are spayed and neutered, fed, and not experiencing any kind of suffering.
Mr No Ears lost his eye to illness as a kitten. Like many light-colored cats, Mr No Ears’ skin is susceptible to sun damage, and after developing solar dermatitis, his ears were removed. He also suffers other skin ailments for which he apparently has been prescribed an ointment. However, his Facebook page jokes that the ointment is only ever used when they can catch Mr No Ears — which is rarely! He walks around proudly, and his unique face doesn’t get in the way of his attitude, which has earned him the title the Lion King of Albufeira.
Mr No Ears is not a Monday Miracle in the traditional sense, but what is miraculous is how much this feral is loved.
