Tabby survives 100-ft highrise fall in florida

With a deafening crash, a stray grey and white tabby landed on the awning between two towers of the Estero Beach and Tennis Club in Fort Myers Beach, FL after falling from a 9th floor balcony.

“I was amazed because it fell a long way because of the noise. I guess it was a good thing it didn’t hit the bar on awning,” resident Carl Gallagher said.

A maintenance worker for Estero Beach and Tennis Club rescued the cat from the balcony. Three residents cared for the cat as the search began for its owner, but no one came forward to claim the cat.

Fort Myers Beach REALTOR Isabelle Wells heard about the cat’s peril and worked with area veterinarians to rescue the cat and find her a furever home. Wells runs FindAHomeGiveAHome.com, a rescue group on Fort Myers Beach. They work with CATTAILS of Bonita Springs and S.P.A.Y.-L.E.E. Inc., in Fort Myers.

Kim and Marianne Worden adopted the cat, christening her “Ester”, after the Estero Beach and Tennis Club.

“She’s only got eight lives left, but we hope she’s not gonna use them up too quickly at this point,” Kim said.
