Dog makes 180-mile journey in the back of a garbage truck

It&rsquo-s a smelly job, but someone has to do it. That someone is not, however, Cerb the terrier. Somehow the little dog managed to end up in the back of a Montana Waste Systems garbage truck from Livingston to Great Falls Landfill in recent days, and he&rsquo-s just fine. It&rsquo-s a very long drive, more than 180 miles, and it&rsquo-s one that no one wants to make in the bed of a truck that&rsquo-s filled with waste, garbage and other things that smell so amazing. Kyle Meier was the driver, and he was shocked to find the dog in his truck when he arrived at the landfill, though he was quite happy that he managed to find the dog before he was killed in the compact process. The dog was very happy to have a human companion, and he didn&rsquo-t seem bothered by the trip he&rsquo-d just made in the least.

Meier took the dog to a local shelter to see if he had a microchip, and he did. A local vet in Livingston was notified that Cerb was found, and his owners were contacted immediately. However, they were unable to make the trip for whatever reason to get their dog, so the shelters in Great Falls and Livingston worked together to come up with a solution to return Cerb to his family. One of the volunteers from the shelter was going to be going through the area, so the shelters paid for this person&rsquo-s travel expenses so that they would return the dog to his rightful owners. Everyone is happy that Cerb is back, and it&rsquo-s all a happy ending.
